Teen Patti Sequence List: Full Hand Rankings from Trail to High Card

Card Strategy Lab•Updated 2026-10-10•6 min read
Quick Summary

The definitive ranking order of all Teen Patti hands, explaining why pure sequences beat color, how ties are broken, and the controversy around A-2-3 vs K-Q-J.

The Core Hand Ranking Hierarchy

In standard 3 Patti rules, 52 cards are used with zero jokers. Hand strength is evaluated strictly by card frequency and probability math. The rarer a combination is to deal, the higher it stands in the ranking list:

  1. Trail / Trio (Three of a Kind): Three cards of identical face value. Three Aces (A-A-A) is the supreme hand in the game, followed by K-K-K, down to 2-2-2.
  2. Pure Sequence (Straight Flush): Three consecutive cards sharing the exact same suit (e.g. A♠-K♠-Q♠). This is the second-strongest combination.
  3. Sequence / Run (Normal Straight): Three consecutive cards of mixed suits (e.g. 9♠-8♥-7♦). A-K-Q is the highest sequence, followed by A-2-3.
  4. Color / Flush: Three cards of the same suit that are not in sequence (e.g. A♥-10♥-6♥). When two players hold colors, the player with the highest individual card wins.
  5. Pair (Two of a Kind): Two cards of identical value plus an unmatched kicker (e.g. K♠-K♥-5♦). The higher pair wins; if pairs match, the higher kicker decides the round.
  6. High Card: When no sequence, flush, or pair exists, the hand is judged strictly by its highest individual card (e.g. A♠-J♥-8♣).

The Sequence Debate: A-K-Q vs. A-2-3

Under official tournament and app standards, A-K-Q is the highest sequence, and A-2-3 is recognized as the second-highest sequence. K-Q-J ranks third, followed by Q-J-10, down to 4-3-2 as the lowest possible sequence. In Teen Patti, 2-3-A is valid, but combinations that "wrap around" such as 2-A-K are never allowed.

Common Hand Comparison Traps

Beginners frequently confuse color and sequence. Remember: any sequence (even 4-3-2 of mixed suits) beats any color/flush (even A-K-9 of the same suit). Rarity governs victory: achieving three consecutive cards is mathematically harder than catching three cards of identical suits in a three-card deal.
